Transactions FAQS
Updated 8 May 2025
What has Budgetly launched?
Budgetly has launched a modern, new Transactions interface to give you more power over your data. This new interface includes expanded functionality and tools for how you interact with and customise your transactions data – a faster and smarter way to manage spending in Budgetly. It replaces the old view with a much more powerful layout that lets you search, filter, edit, and export transactions with ease.
Whether you're checking receipts, reviewing who spent what, or getting ready for reporting, everything you need is right here in one place.
Why did Budgetly make this change?
Our vision is to provide you with a new paradigm for managing your transaction data with ease and efficiency. Data with your bank is locked and cannot be manipulated or changed. Budgetly now provides you with the ability to manipulate and enrich data directly from the transaction data grid within the platform. We built the new transaction view to give you a true system of record for business spend – something fast, flexible, and future-ready.
It’s not just a visual update. This new foundation helps us deliver:
- Increased efficiency and speed: Faster access to information means you can accomplish more in less time – when reviewing, editing, and reconciling transactions.
- Greater control: A central place to manage every transaction across your business. Customise your data and views to match your specific needs and preferences.
- Smarter tools to help you stay compliant and in control: e.g., bulk updates and powerful imports (coming soon).
- Improved decision-making: Gain deeper insights from your data with powerful search, filtering, and reporting tools. Plus, automated suggestions and checks based on your spending patterns.
This upgrade sets the stage for what’s next – smarter, more connected features that save you time and give you better insights into your business.

Can I opt-out of the new transaction view?
Where do I export or edit columns?
Everything lives in the Actions menu (top right of the view). From there, you can:
- Export your list to CSV
- Show, hide, and reorder columns
- (Coming soon) Make bulk changes across multiple transactions
- (Coming soon) Sync selected transactions to Xero
Can I customise the columns I see?
Yes - go to Actions → Edit columns to:
- Show or hide what you need
- Reorder columns to suit how you work
- Resize columns to see more detail
Your changes are automatically saved in your browser, so your setup stays just how you left it.
How do I filter by date?
The date filter now includes:
- Quick ranges like “Last month” or “This quarter”
- Custom date ranges
- Reporting periods to line up with your accounting needs
It’s ideal for month-end checks and reviewing spend over time.
Can I upload receipts from the new view?
Absolutely. If a receipt is missing, you’ll see it flagged.
You can:
- Click to upload directly
- Drag and drop receipts
- Email your receipts to Buddy for automatic attachment
We’ll automatically attach it to the right transaction where possible.
How do I manage tag groups more efficiently?
Previously, all your tags were bundled into a single column, which made it harder to filter, edit, or compare specific tag types.
Now, each tag group has its own separate column. This makes it much easier to:
- Quickly scan and compare tags by group (like Department, Location, or Project)
- Filter by a specific tag group without affecting others
- Edit tags more precisely
This new structure is more efficient and also sets things up for bulk tag updates, which are coming soon.
Can I edit multiple transactions at once?
Not yet - but it’s on the way. Soon you’ll be able to:
- Select multiple rows
- Bulk update categories, budgets, or tags
This will make catch-up tasks way faster.
Can I sync selected transactions to Xero?
That’s coming soon too. You’ll be able to:
- Select one or more filtered transactions.
- Send transactions (100 max) directly to Xero from the view - no need to sync everything at once.
