PRESS RELEASE
Sydney, Australia, 20 May 2026
Budgetly, the AI-driven spend management platform helping Australian SMEs eliminate overspending before it happens, today announced the appointment of Lisa Callaghan as Chief Financial Officer.
Callaghan joins Budgetly as a finance leader with deep experience scaling operations across SaaS and fintech businesses. As CFO, she will strengthen Budgetly’s financial strategy and operating cadence as the company scales. She will also bring a CFO lens to how Budgetly defines the problems Australian finance teams face, and the outcomes the platform should deliver.
“Lisa pairs strategic finance leadership with hands-on operational experience in high-growth SaaS and fintech. As CFO, she will help us scale with discipline and clarity. Her perspective will also sharpen how we understand the day-to-day reality of finance teams, so we keep building a product that solves the right problems and delivers real control.”

CFO-led clarity on the problems finance teams are solving
In her role, Callaghan will work closely with Budgetly’s leadership and product teams to:
- Strengthen financial governance, planning, and performance management as Budgetly grows
- Bring CFO and accounting experience into key product decisions, keeping Budgetly grounded in real finance workflows
- Help define the problem-and-solution narrative Budgetly delivers to SMEs: practical control, real-time visibility, and less manual finance work
Her appointment reflects a broader shift in the market. Budgetly’s 2026 CFO Survey of 106 Australian finance leaders found that 86.8% say manual tasks consume more than 20% of their finance team’s time, and 75% want AI automation but only 25% are using AI tools today. Closing that gap is a CFO-level decision.
“Finance should be a growth function, not a cost centre. I’m joining Budgetly at a time when finance teams are under pressure to do more with fewer resources. My focus is helping Budgetly scale sustainably, and supporting the team as we keep building a product that gives Australian SMEs clearer control over spending before it becomes a month-end surprise.”
